Archery bow stand

In the field, we take care of our tools and our tools take care of us. The bow stand is a prototyping project, coming out of necessity at the range to prevent undue damage and stress on the bow from leaning against the ground.

The preferred prototyping color is white. This allows for annotations, notes, and alterations to be drawn, documenting the process and decisions made.

Collapsibility, portability, and simplicity are predominant in the design and iterations.

Through the prototyping process, parts are combined and modified to increase simplicity or made separate to optimize print orientation and maximize strength.

When prototyping, we look into the world for unexpected sources to borrow ideas and materials in service of creating the tool. Bungee and pole construction from tents for collapsibility, pocket clip from pocket knife for string retention, IKEA curtain rod for readily available and inexpensive tubing material.
